about heather grey.

Heather Grey is a Durham based acrylic painter and collage artist, whose vivid paintings and mixed-media creations fuse historically inspired imagery with a modern gaze. With a degree in history and a background in fine art, design and vintage ephemera, her career as a freelance artist has enabled her to combine her varied passions and experience into a unique visual style.

Influenced by a wide range of art and artists including Byzantine religious icons, Medieval illuminated manuscripts, and Art Nouveau advertising by creatives such as Gisbert Combaz and Leopoldo Metlicovitz, her work focuses on themes of women as ‘objects of adoration’ and the changing nature of female idolization throughout history. Her paintings and collages feature antique images, dramatic contrasts and rich gold details, all imbued with intense, jewel-like colour palettes, and her artwork has been displayed in several exhibitions in the North East since her solo debut, ‘Bloom’, in 2021.

Working with both physical media and digital technology, her work is available as original art, hand-embellished prints, and unique mixed-media collage pieces.
